Candidates Biographies:
  • Blaine Pellicore: I am a Junior from Denver Colorado. I am double majoring in International Affairs with a concentration in the Middle East and Philosophy. I am on the University of Colorado men’s Water Polo team and am an avid climber. I choose to attend CU because of my love for the outdoors and the academic opportunities that are available here. I was elected last year during the fall elections as a Rep-at-Large for UCSU and was then chosen by the body to be the President of the Legislative Council. I am very proud of the work I have done over the past year and plan to continue to serve the students of this incredible university. I have had a very rewarding college experience thus far and now wish to give back to the institution that has made this possible. As an incumbent running for the position of a UCSU Representative at Large, I hope to keep improving on the already high quality of community that we share at CU.

I and the other members of the UNISON ticket bring a unique opportunity to UCSU. We have created the first truly representative ticket in recent memory that includes members of the Panhellenic Council, Fraternal Community, Diversity Community, Progressive Community and Club Sports. We provide a historic opportunity to unify communities across the entire campus.

  • Christopher Choe: I am a senior International Affairs major. I have lived in the beautiful state of Colorado my whole life.

I have had experience in being a member of various student groups on campus and have had wonderful leadership opportunities as the former president of the Korean American Students at Boulder. Currently I am a member of the UCSU Finance Board. Boulder has given me the greatest education I could ever receive. My horizons and knowledge have broadened since the moment I stepped foot on campus and still continue to do so. I value commitment and love being part of the various communities. A strong community is only the beginning to the rise of our generation as great people.

I strive to be fair and will never be short on showing unison on issues that affect the broader concerns of us all. Sound judgment coupled with the perseverance to work tirelessly is what I wish to bring on behalf of the students. I am excited to have this opportunity to be Rep-At-Large and wish for guidance from the community and be available to the students.

  • Brittany Havey:I’m a junior pre-journalism major and a political science minor. I grew up in Burr Ridge, Illinois and have worked in the city of Chicago for the past few years.

Throughout my life, I have shown dedicated leadership. During high school, I was a representative of the legislative body, active in peer mediation, and a volunteer for groups such as Habitat for Humanity. I have continued this trend in college. This past spring I ran for Tri-executive under the third-party ticket, Solidarity. Although we lost, I gained a lot of insight into how our student government is run and the grave disconnect between the students and their governing body. I desperately want to bridge this gap by increasing transparency and communication to the students. This summer, I volunteered in Ecuador for International Student Volunteers. When I got back to CU, I became involved with the Legislative Affairs Commission and was subsequently elected Chair. Among a variety of projects, our main focus is the “Show me the money” campaign to increase awareness of rising tuition costs at CU and be the voice for students down at the capitol in Denver.

I believe that the different dynamics the Unison ticket has will truly make a difference at our school. We are the first ticket to represent all interests: Greek, progressive community, diversity groups, and the uninvolved students. These different aspects will make our ticket balanced and fair. The experience and involvement Unison has will transcend the constrictions of our student government and unify the student body.

  • Rebecca Aguilar: I’m currently a sophomore at CU majoring in Spanish and International Affairs. After moving around a lot while growing up, I love having a place as unique and beautiful as Boulder to finally call home. Throughout my time here at CU, I’ve tried to get involved with the programs on campus that I feel particularly passionate about. I am actively involved in the traditional Greek system, and love how close of a community it creates within the larger campus community. Additionally, I serve on UCSU Diversity Commission. As a group, we are dedicated to providing a more unified campus and more of a understanding and knowledge of underrepresented student groups. It is imperative that the incredible diversity that is present on our campus is brought forth and that as students of CU, we can all be accurately represented in our Student Union to make the changes that are important to all student groups. As a representative for legislative council, I feel that with my experience with UCSU and my knowledge of several student groups on campus, I would be able to apply this change immensely.

Our vast experience with UCSU makes us the most qualified ticket to deal with your student fee dollars. Through fiscal responsibility we promise to minimize increases in student fees without diminishing the overall experience of the student body.

  • Will Taylor: Throughout my history at CU, I have been involved in numerous clubs and groups including CU Biodieselers, the Political Science Club, Sigma Phi Epsilon National Fraternity, and the Fencing athletic club.

Due to my extensive involvement in various school organizations, I feel qualified to represent the diverse student body found on the CU campus. My admiration and fondness for CU knows no bounds. As your representative, I will continuously give without reservation of my time and talents in order to ensure that CU students receive the education and facilities they can expect from a tier one University such as CU. The diversity of the UNISON ticket is unmatched in both its depth and experience and will lead CU students towards a stronger campus community, increased success, and greater representation in student interests. UNISION represents the change that our UCSU needs to lead us to these goals.
